Hostel 04:59
Verse 1 Sorry to call so late I know it's 4am but i’m three blocks away You know i’ve come so far now But got so far to go I fear this may be the end of the road I didn't mean to pull the trigger But the story didn't figure Now I couldn't feel much sicker Could you hop in your car and come Could you hop in your car and come and Chorus Meet me at the hostel baby i'm on the run Meet me at the hostel baby i'm on the run Meet me at the hostel baby i'm on the run Meet me at the hostel baby i'm on the run run run run Verse 2 The way you looked at her that day I knew That there was something between you two Now i've made the choice easier for you There's only one thing left for us to do Left for us to do I didn't mean to pull the trigger Saw the lights start to flicker Couldn't get away much quicker So if you love me you gotta come If you love me you gotta come right now and CHORUS Bridge I’m so glad that you could make it It's been so hard to fake it But I really couldn't wait much longer for you to come No no begging won't do it I've really thought through this I’ve saved you the last bullet in this gun BANG CHORUS Outro Baby I need ya Meet me at the corner baby now x 4

about

Produced by Rihanna collaborator and Grammy winner AAMIR, Edge Part 1 is a four-track musing on introspection, female power, and the liberation of musical self-expression. Opener ‘Hostel’ is a languorous neo-soul slow-jam with a nocturnal twist, accompanied by dark palette of low-end heavy production. From the offing, ‘Hostel’ establishes a uniquely personal voice, forcefully contrasting the saccharine-romance of conventional R&B. ‘You Left Me’ then flips this sensibility with a weighty percussive backbone, infectious melody, and defiant message of independence in the face of adversity. Its swaggering lyricism is backed up by the bumping instrumental and puts the listener in the immersive, self-effacing space of the club. Strings interlude ‘Orange’ is a meditative breather, combining a ‘90s West Coast synth redolent of Dr Dre’s best work with the manipulated vocal of a Frank Ocean ballad, before the closing funk bombast of ‘Bad Mouth’. Here Omahrose ends the EP on a dancefloor-focused note, effortlessly switching up a double-time beat to serve her message of inner might.

“I wrote this EP on loss and betrayal, working through the music as a means of exploring various ways of coping”, Omahrose explains. “Tracks meander through pain, euphoria, anger and, ultimately, the strength of self-expression”. Live, this unique brand of self-expression has manifested in a sold-out headline show at London’s Archspace and an opening slot for Raye. The realism of a powerful, often conflicted, woman’s voice is rarely heard in music, but with Edge, Part 1 Omahrose puts forward a clear message, and a voice to be heard. Stay tuned, as there’s more to be said.
